After 42 years in education, Mrs. Sally Hubbard has closed an incredible chapter of service, and Jenkins Independent School District has been better because she chose to spend part of that journey with us.
Over the years, she did far more than teach high school science. She invested in young people. She challenged them to think. She encouraged them when they needed confidence. She showed up, consistently and faithfully, in ways that don’t always make headlines but absolutely shape lives.
Experience like hers is rare. Four decades in the classroom brings wisdom you can’t replicate overnight. But beyond her knowledge and professionalism, what stands out most is the way she cared for students.
She helped create an atmosphere where students felt supported and valued. Through her involvement with Bible Club and her everyday interactions, she quietly influenced the culture of our school in positive and lasting ways.
Education is not always an easy calling. It requires patience, strength, and heart. Mrs. Hubbard carried all three with grace.
As we recognize her retirement, we simply want to say thank you, for the time, the commitment, the leadership, and the countless unseen moments that made a difference.

Landon Walker is always ready and give his best effort.

Hannah Tolson has been working very hard in class and keeping a Cavalier attitude.
Paiden, Kaisen, Logan, Drake, Bryson, Easton, and Jase for volunteering their recess time to carry in donuts for Ms. Angie.
Preschool and Kindergarten Roundup is March 5th from 1:00-5:00 @ Burdine.
Students turning five years old by August 1 are eligible to register for kindergarten. Students not five years old by August 1 can apply for Burdine's Preschool Program.
The Second Grade Accelerated Reader Field Trip for tomorrow is rescheduled for next Thursday, March 5th due to the road conditions in the Breaks Interstate Park.
There will be no school in the Jenkins Independent School District tomorrow, February 24th due to weather. Thank you, and please stay safe and warm.
Read Across America Week is next week at Burdine! We will send paper copies home when we return to school.
Burdine's Family Night for tonight has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 26th from 4:00-6:00.

Hear ye, hear ye! Our "Presidential" Cavalier has a very important proclamation for all Jenkins Independent families regarding the upcoming week.
While the original calendar marked Monday, February 16th as a holiday, please take note of the following official update:
School WILL be in session this Monday, February 16th! 🏫
This will serve as a weather make-up day to keep our students on track. ❄️➡️📚
Buses will run on their normal schedules, and all school activities will proceed as planned. 🚌

Burdine Families Kona Ice has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 17th! The school receives 30% back from Kona Ice and we use these funds to help with end of year field trips.

It is FRYSC Appreciation Week, and at Jenkins Independent Schools, we are taking a moment to celebrate the heart of our support system: our amazing Coordinator, Ms. Angie Collins!
The mission of our Family Resource and Youth Services Center is to remove "non-academic barriers" to learning, but Ms. Angie goes above and beyond that every single day. Whether it's:
💚 Ensuring our students have warm coats and shoes for the winter weather,
💚 Providing school supplies and hygiene essentials,
💚 Connecting our families with community resources in times of need, or
💚 Simply being a safe, supportive face for a student who needs a helping hand.
Ms. Angie doesn't just fill gaps; she builds bridges. She makes sure that when our kids walk through the school doors, comfortable and ready to focus on their future.
Ms. Angie, thank you for your tireless dedication to our students and for always putting the "Family" in Jenkins Independent. We are so lucky to have you!
